Act as the technical lead for new product development.
Interact with the outside advisory board and with the R&D program manager.
Supervise the software and mechanical engineering staff.
Produce and evaluate design options giving consideration to cost, quality, performance, and maintainability.
Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply chain management processes.
Provide technical support to the Product Manager for the selection of production vendors.
Develop and execute test plan for product verification and validation.
This position can be based in our Philadelphia or Orlando regional office and requires up to 30%-40% travel.
Principal Accountabilities:
Successfully manage day-to-day engineering staff operations to meet the goals and objectives established by the Product Manager.
Develop product design quality standards.
Develop and execute the technical development process that ensures product adherence to defined quality standards.
Usher product through its development lifecycle with a focus on costing, manufacturing efficiency, and quality consistency.
Identify and achieve metrics for product cost reduction, quality improvement and customer satisfaction.
Maintain awareness of customer requirements and industry trends and successfully translate those into measurable specifications for product development.
Successfully develop and execute a plan for product maintenance.
Maintain successful and productive interface with all internal and external product stakeholders.
Supervisory and Management Accountabilities:
Supervise all assigned technical staff, contract and sub-contract personnel and coordinate with supervisor for provision of adequate and timely production support.
Manage, train and develop technical staff and contract production team by demonstrating strong leadership, motivating, mentoring and management skills.
Carryout supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Build effective relationships with the team by frequent face-to-face interaction and open communication.
Interview, hire (with needed authorizations), train, coach and mentor team.
Assist team in identifying and reaching career and professional development goals.
Establish and revise goals and objectives for direct reports on an annual basis or as needed.
Complete and submit new hire, semi-annual and annual performance appraisals in accordance with company procedures and deadlines.
Actively participate in all phases on employee disciplinary actions including developing performance improvement plans performance discussions and terminations meetings.
Review on-line timesheets for direct reports for accuracy and approves monthly timesheets on time.
