In support of our primary focus on practical applications, CHI Systems engages in basic and applied research that focuses on the following areas:

  • Human Cognition and Cognitive Simulation - Our Human Performance Engineering Practice uses experimental, simulation, and model-based approaches to build scientific understanding of how people think and solve problems.

  • Aircrew Performance, Safety and Survivability - Our Human Performance Engineering Practice gathers and uses empirical flight data to improve aircrew performance, safety and survivability in fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

  • New Display and Control Concepts - Our Mobile and Wireless Solutions Practice researches, develops, and demonstrates new technologies that link human abilities and needs with computer systems and information technology.

  • Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents - Our Cognitive Engineering Practice conducts research to create advanced methods to embed human-like intelligence into computational tools, systems, and algorithms.

  • Training Systems - Our Cognitive Engineering Practice and Human Performance Engineering Practice conduct basic and applied research to better understand the learner, instructor, and organizational needs associated with advanced distance learning, embedded training, and simulation based training.
